Jack Sparrow, mungkin hampir semua kita mengenal tokoh the pirate ini -terutama penggemar film. Satu hal yang membuat saya terkesan adalah bagaimana anak buahnya yang baru dia angkat dan belum terlalu mengenalnya bisa begitu loyal bahkan rela berjuang membebaskanya saat dia akan di hukum gantung oleh tentara pemerintah spanyol saat itu. Tidak terlalu wibawa, senglengekan, tidak serius dan berbagai sikap anehnya ternyata mampu menawan anak buahnya. Mengetahui kondisi dan situasi, mengambil keputusan yang cerdas pada saat yang genting, membela anak buah, strategi yang terencana dan sedikit keberuntungan ciri khas dari orang yang selalu marah ketika gelar kaptenya tidak di sebut ketika orang memanggil namanya.

Kapten, selama ini yang saya tahu adalah pangkat dalam dunia militer, atau pemimpin dalam tim olah raga misalnya kapten kesebelasan sepakbola atau kapten tim poli. Pernah juga kawan saya yang kuliah di pelayaran mengatakan bahwa kapten adalah posisi tertinggi untuk seorang nahkoda pemimpin sebuah pelayaran. Entah mana yang benar tetapi yang jelas kapten adalah seorang yang mempunyai anggota atau tim untuk dia lindungi dan arahkan dalam suatu usaha untuk mencapai tujuan yang telah di sepakati dan di pahami bersama.

Nahkoda, Setelah memiliki bahtera, seorang kapten harus memilih seorang wakil atau navigator yaitu orang yang mendampinginya untuk mengatur anak buah dan membantu menutupi kekurangan dari sang kapten seperti halnya ketika Jack Sparrow memilih Gibs sebagai wakilnya. Syarat utama yang dia pilih adalah orang yang bisa dipercaya keloyalanya, pengetahuan luas tentang tujuan yang akan di hadapi, dan bisa menggantikan peran sang kapten jika dia berhalangan. Pemilihan yang salah akan menjadi sumber masalah seperti ketika dia dulu memilih Barbossa yang akhirnya menghianatinya dan merebut kapalnya-Pearl Black. Selain itu antara sang nahkoda dan navigator harus mempunyai satu tujuan, visi dan misi yang sama, punya panduan yang jelas dan benar yang harus selalu ditaati bersama. Setelah sang pendamping di pilih langkah selanjutnya adalah melengkapi anak buah dan semua perangkat yang dia butuhkan selama perjalanan.

Perjalanan, Angin tidak selamanya berhembus sepoi-sepoi, ada kalanya dia datang bersama ombak yang tinggi, bersama awan yang kelam atau badai dan topan yang akan mengombang-ambingkan kapal. Note: Maaf jika ada yang tidak berkenan mengambil contoh Jack Sparrow “seorang perompak” karena tidak banyak ilustrasi seorang kapten kapal. Karena dalam gelapnya malam akan ada bintang dilangit walau sinarnya kecil tetapi bisa untuk petunjuk.
